Flowering Begonia

Begonia is one of the most beautiful houseplants. The are over 1500 varieties that most of them grow up to 40-50 cm from the ground and have small pink and white flowers.
The types of Begonia are native to Peru and Bolivia.



















Leaves:

The leaves are round or oval, depending on the type, with slight invaginations. 





































Flowers:

The flowers are single or multiple line of petals with various of colors like red, pink, white, yellow and orange.




































Proffered Conditions:  
Begonia is generally not a demanding plant concerning the growing conditions. Specifically, the plant needs plenty of sunlight and needs to be protected from direct exposure to the sun. The ideal temperature to grow is around 18-22οC. It needs frequent watering with small amounts of water. 


Vulnerability:
Begonia is easily offended by fungal diseases because the stems contain a high proportion of water. So it should firstly be placed in with adequate ventilation and secondly it should not be watered directly to the flowers or leaves. 


Multiplication:

Begonia is propagated by division of tubers and rhizomes. Depending on the species that often happens in the Spring or Summer.
